Open Calls

New Futures at The Other Art Fair Chicago Featured
As part of The Other Art Fair’s mission to break down traditional barriers of the contemporary art world, New Futures is designed to launch the careers of talented emerging artists through a prize that includes free exhibition space at this fall’s fair and mentorship. Selected artists will have the opportunity to exhibit physically at the Chicago fair and digitally through Virtual Editions. New Futures Chicago is presented in partnership with Colossal.
Deadline: August 8, 2021.

Recycle at Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition
The Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition has an open call for Recycle, a national juried exhibition that will run from September 12 to October 17, 2021. Submissions should utilize discarded and repurposed materials for 2- and 3D artworks. Recycle is open to U.S. artists and has a $35 application fee.
Deadline: August 8, 2021.

7th Annual National Juried Exhibition at Oxford Arts Alliance
Oxford Arts Alliance is hosting its 7th Annual National Juried Exhibition this October with $700 in prize money for the winning entrant. Juried by Charles Goolsby, professor of art at Emory & Henry College and chair of the Division of Visual and Performing Arts, the exhibition has no theme, and the entry fee is $15.
Deadline: August 27, 2021.

A Billboard Contest through Fine Art America
The online marketplace Fine Art America is seeking submissions for a public art campaign. Twenty winning artists will have their work, name, and social media information featured on a billboard in a U.S. city for at least one month.
Deadline: August 31, 2021.

Call for Illustrators for Bitch Magazine
Bitch is accepting applications for illustrators on a rolling basis with payments ranging between $300 and $600 for magazine features, $200 and $400 for spot illustrations, and $600 for photo essays. To apply, send a portfolio link and any specific suggestions (style or topic) for artwork to design@b-word.org.

Grants, Residencies, & Fellowships

Creative Climate Awards from The Human Impacts Institute
The Creative Climate Awards is accepting short films, features, PSAs, and documentaries about the intersection of health and the climate crisis. Winning projects will be eligible for prizes of $1,000, $600, and $400, screenings in-person in New York City and virtually worldwide, and consideration for licensing by PBS All Arts.
Deadline: 11:30 p.m. EST on August 9, 2021.

City Artist Corps Grants from New York Foundation for the Arts
The New York Foundation for the Arts launched its third round of City Artist Corps Grants, which will award more than 3,000 NYC-based artists one-time stipends of $5,000. All projects, which span visual arts, music, dance, theater, and literature, must have a live component and be held in one of the five boroughs.
Deadline: 10 a.m. EST on August 10, 2021.

Curating Sustainable Projects with Curate for Change
Curate for Change is launching its next program, Curating Sustainable Projects, a three-week series of workshops, debates, lectures, and visits from September 6 to 24 in Barcelona. Geared toward students and professionals, the program will culminate in a final exhibition related to the environment and sustainability.
Deadline: August 15, 2021.

PleinAir Salon’s 11th Annual Competition
Each year, PleinAir Magazine awards artists $33,000. International applications are open for the 2021 competition, and all types of paintings are eligible. They don’t have to be completed in Plein air but should originate from a Plein air study or experience.
Deadline: August 31, 2021.

Braun Prize 2021
Students and young creatives with less than five years of work experience are encouraged to submit their designs for the Braun Prize 2021. All submissions should be geared toward making an impact on today’s society and the planet. Applications are free and open to anyone around the world, and the winner will receive $100,000.
Deadline: August 31, 2021.

Innovative Grant for Artists and Photographers
The Summer 2021 Innovative Grant will award $550 each to one photographer and one visual artist working across mediums. Applications are open internationally to anyone over 18 with a $25 fee.
Deadline: September 16, 2021.

The Carmignac Photojournalism Award
The 12th edition of the Carmignac Photojournalism Award centers around the social, economic, and ecological crises impacting life in Venezuela. It will award one photographer from anywhere in the world a €50,000 grant to support a six-month reporting residency running from January to June 2022 with the Fondation Carmignac, along with a traveling exhibition of the works produced and a monograph. Deadline: Midnight GMT on October 18, 2021.
