It’s here! It’s here! Our Christmas apartment tour for 2020! I really thought that I would be ahead of schedule this year when decorating, but of course in true 2020 fashion, nothing went according to plan. You’d think by now I’d stop making plans, but better late than never right?! Here’s how we (aka I) decorated for the holidays this year, and spoiler, it’s colorful!
I know Instagram can make you feel like you need to buy 1,000,000 new things every year, but you don’t. We decided to use a lot of what we already had, but to just curate the colors a bit more to make it feel fresh. We ended up using: pink, red, blues, mint, and gold. If it didn’t fit into that, we just left it in storage until next year.
Last year I kept every day items out and just decorated around them. This year though, I decided to put more in storage so that it would feel much more like Christmas. We just took out the Christmas decor from the storage boxes and filled it with items that we wouldn’t need again until January when we take everything down.
Gift boxes were such a great way to still have some storage while remaining festive.
Insider tip: If you have a letter board from my shop, you can spell out Merry Christmas with the large letters that came with it!
The wrapped gallery wall is becoming one of my favorite holiday traditions (here’s the DIY). It takes a while to do, but it really changes the entire feel of our living room! I space it out over a few nights and watch movies while wrapping. HIGHLY recommend this if you’re already planning for next year.
I even wrapped a few pieces that live on our desk in the same paper to make the space feel consistant.
For our tree, we start with a base of solid colored bulbs in our theme colors, then we go in with vintage pieces and those special one of a kind ornaments. This ensures that the tree fits in with the rest of the decor while still having meaning and whimsy.
