Grants & Fellowships

Creative Capital Award Applications Now Open
Artists selected for a Creative Capital Award may receive up to $50,000 in funding for new projects, as well as a wide range of counsel, career development, and networking opportunities to make their work come to life. Deadline: March 1, 2021.

Designing a Better Chicago: Design Impact Grants
The Design Impact grant provides annual, project-specific grants to individuals and organizations using design or design principles to directly address pressing issues in Chicago communities. The program will award $25,000 in sum total. Deadline: March 12, 2021.

Francis Johnson Fellowships
Calling all performing artists, musicians, actors, visual artists, and other creative scholars and practitioners! America’s oldest cultural institution, the Library Company of Philadelphia, welcomes applications for a new grant that seeks to critically and creatively engage our African American history collections. Fellows will receive a stipend of $5,000, a $2,500 research fund to be defined by the fellow and program director, and lodging at the Library Company’s Cassatt House residence for four to eight weeks. Deadline: March 1, 2021.

Chicago Commissioning ‘Ambitious’ Public Art With $500K In Funding
As part of a large-scale grant effort, the city of Chicago is allocating $500,000 to commission up to 10 public art projects, with another $250,000 given to partners for smaller, local projects. Learn more at the CityArts Program and the Artist Response Program.

 

Open Calls

Creative Culture: Illuminated Trails US & UK
Creative Culture is seeking artists and designers to propose sculpture, installation, or interactive ideas for both their U.S. and U.K. light trail events. Deadline: February 19, 2021.

Ortega y Gasset Projects Announces an Open Call for Two Solo Exhibitions
Brooklyn-based Ortega y Gasset Projects are seeking applications for two solo exhibitions to open in September of 2021: one in the main gallery at OyG and one in The Skirt, OyG’s dedicated space for site-specific installations. Deadline: March 5, 2021.

Brilliant 2021: Artichoke commits over £50,000 to six commissions for the Lumiere Festival
The Lumiere light art festival is soliciting ideas for the Lumiere 2021 program. You don’t need to be a practicing artist to apply, and winners will receive support to realize their concept. Open to the entire U.K. Deadline: February 11, 2021.
