Earlier today we featured some pretty accurate celebrity created using Faceapp. Well, artist Chris Schoonover decided to take it one step further – or rather 39 steps further. They uploaded a picture of themselves to the app and then just kept on applying the gender swap filter over and over – and the AI lost its marbles pretty quickly.
After Chris uploaded the pictures to Facebook, they went viral almost instantly, being shared over 37k times in just a few days. And for good reason – they’re absolutely hilarious! Check out Chris’ gender swap experiment in the gallery below!

In an interview with Bored Panda, Chris said that strange and macabre humor has always been how they express themselves so this “photoshoot” shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone.
Here’s how the whole thing went down
“I stopped where I did in this series of images because there came a point when the face stopped being a face and I had already achieved some very laughable results,” explained Chris.
The artist also added that they should make more posts when they’re high. “But seriously, it was really good to see a spark of humor go viral in these times. It would be really fun to see what other kinds of creativity is born from this,” concluded Chris.
