Shannon Clegg is an artist who creates beautiful sculptures with dried and pressed flowers. She used to teach ceramics and mould-making in colleges and universities, coordinating 3D educational design studios, and currently manages artist studio spaces in East London.

The artist’s inspiration comes directly from nature. She shared a note with Demilked in which she explained- “There is a concept that architects use called biophilic design which explains how certain materials can be used to give an ‘indirect’ experience of nature, which can help boost one’s mood and mental health. I’m fascinated by this idea, and how I can build the same sort of connection in my work so that if I make an object that uses natural materials, like flowers, it should give you a ‘nature fix’ and elevate your mood.”

The artist uses freshly grown and cut flowers that are then dried, shaped, and preserved with the technique she developed. Shannon further elaborated, “I use a slow process of forming that means it takes 6 weeks to form a flower sculpture.” Check out some of her magnificent works in the gallery below.
