Byredo is officially in its Lucia Pica era. The brand’s makeup division, which appointed Pica as creative director back in March, just dropped a collection of liquid lipsticks devised by the beauty whiz.
Pica, who as global creative makeup and color designer at Chanel, flexed her chromatic muscle when devising the line of 10 shades. From “Reasonable Doubt,” an earthy rose, to rich reddish-brown “Molasses,” the colors look as if they were picked straight from a Dalí painting.
As for the formula, the lipsticks have a semi-glossy, vinyl-like finish. Creamier than a lip stain yet lighter than a traditional lipstick, they’re comfortable on the skin and adaptable depending on your desired wear: a dab applied with the fingers adds a subtle flush of color, a swipe across the upper and lower lip delivers a saturated pop, a coat over your favorite stain or tint boosts dimension.
Speaking of layering — the collection includes a clear liquid lipstick (not a gloss!) that can be applied as a top coat or tapped onto the eyes for intense shine.

And we can’t forget the packaging, a makeup specialty. The lipsticks are poured into clear tubes topped with a silver, sinewy cap that recalls the curves of a nude torso. To quote Paris Hilton: “That’s hot.”
Under Pica’s skilled hand, Byredo is writing its next chapter — and so far, it’s a page-turner.
