Even on sale, this laptop’s price is a bit hefty, but that’s because it was not built for casual use. The M1 Pro chip is designed to power heavy tasks without lag, like photo and video editing — and it does so with all-day battery life. (I’ve used my work-issued M1 Pro off its charger for entire work days without a hitch, and when testing the laptop). The speakers far surpass any previous generation of MacBook, and it ditches some of the more annoying features like the Touch Bar and butterfly keyboard.
Ultimately, it’s not the MacBook for light usage — and that’s in the literal sense, too, as its additional pound does add a noticeable bit of heft.
