A dream kitchen is one that you can really work in. Make your dream kitchen one that you can use to make a mess, prep a big meal, and easily clean up. Design your dream kitchen around your family and your goals for the next few years. Many families make their memories in the kitchen and often gather together in the kitchen for meals and to chat so take time to plan your dream kitchen remodel.

1. Focus on Appliances

Get the biggest refrigerator you can afford, especially if you are keen on building a working pantry. If you have children who are old enough to get their own drinks, make sure they can reach the water and ice dispenser.

Invest in a stove that offers an air fryer feature. If you don’t bake, get a cooktop installed and treat yourself to a heavy-duty toaster oven. If you love to bake, get a convection microwave. The kitchen is generally the hardest working room in the house Customize your kitchen by installing the appliances you need for the next 10 years.

2. Create Built-In Storage

If you have the room, consider installing a butler’s pantry. A butler’s pantry can contain a sink for washing fresh veggies from the garden, heavy-duty shelving for large appliances (such as your roasting pan), counter space for work, and outlets for appliances.

Even if you don’t have the room, add a tall, thin roll-out pantry where you can store canned goods and extra fats.

3. Keep an Eye on Safety

If you’re planning a family, make sure you can easily lock up your cabinets. Add a heavy-duty magnetized bar for knives. Create a space for dish storage that makes it easier for little ones to get their own plates and cups.

4. Customize the Space for the Primary Cook

If you’re tall, get a refrigerator on top and freezer on the bottom. Install a shallow sink. Talk to your contractor about bumping up the height of your kitchen cabinets.

If you’re short, get pull-down hardware for your top cabinets. Store your plates and cups in heavy-duty drawers instead of putting them up in a cabinet. Design this working space so you can get the job done safely and conveniently.

5. Make Clean-Up Easier

Consider finishes. If you cook a lot, don’t put in any appliance or cabinet that’s high-gloss. If you have hard water, don’t put it in a black sink. Don’t skimp on sanitizing surfaces, but don’t waste time on surfaces that need polishing.

6. Look at Lighting

Add motion detector lights under your kitchen cabinets. Don’t try to chop veggies or make coffee without proper lighting. Motion sensor lights will come on when you need them and shut off automatically. Kitchens can be dangerous! Motion sensor lights will reduce that risk.

A dream kitchen is one that allows you to cook without having to spend a lot of time polishing and scrubbing. It should be easy to organize and friendly to everyone who works in the space. This ideal kitchen incorporates materials that are both beautiful and durable, such as quartz countertops that resist stains and scratches or high-gloss cabinets that are easy to wipe clean.
