Ten years is a significant milestone, especially in commercial interior design where trends come and go. Pedrali’s Nemea collection celebrates 10 years since its debut, and it remains a benchmark of timeless design. Designed by Cazzaniga Mandelli Pagliarulo, Nemea effortlessly bridges classic materiality with contemporary versatility. Its enduring appeal lies in its graceful, archetypal silhouette, inspired by tradition but refined for modern life. Crafted with solid Ash wood legs, a curved plywood backrest and a clever die-cast aluminium frame hidden beneath the seat, Nemea offers both visual lightness and structural integrity – hallmarks of considered hospitality furniture. The collection also includes an armchair, and each piece in the Nemea collection is manufactured at the Manzano (Udine) wooden furniture facility, which also celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

What makes Nemea remarkable is its adaptability. It’s as comfortable in a refined bistro as it is in a contemporary co-working space or a quiet residential dining nook. Over the past decade, this quietly iconic collection has been specified in a diverse range of global interiors including the refined minimalism of Khufu’s restaurant in Giza. It’s also at home in the lush vibrancy of Scalapay in Milan, and the relaxed Mediterranean warmth of Hotel Gatzara Suites in Ibiza.

In Australia, the Nemea can be found in many hospitality projects around the country, including the glamorous Flying Fish Restaurant in Sydney by Paul Kelly Design. Set within the Star Casino, the restaurant is layered with curved elements and timber banquette details. Punctuating the space are vibrant hints of blue, seen in the aquatic-like carpets and the scattering of blue upholstered seats on the Nemea. A dark walnut tone on the chair’s timber frame gives the whole space gravitas.

Whether framing a long communal table or softening the geometry of a corner setting, the chair feels both purposeful and discreet. Its ability to blend in while elevating the aesthetic character of a space is what sets it apart, a quality achieved through painstaking design and high craftsmanship. To celebrate the collection’s anniversary, the new additions, presented at this year’s Salone del Mobile Milan, include options like a woven cellulose seat, American walnut and Nemea Soft with upholstery. These new versions broaden its reach even further, catering to different levels of comfort and formality.

For Cazzaniga Mandelli Pagliarulo, the Nemea collection is an object shaped by time and history, and this sentiment is embedded in every curve. Expressing an athletic elegance, the chair’s sinuous lines and tactile finishes make it feel alive within a space – never overbearing, always intentional.

As Pedrali marks a decade of Nemea, its legacy continues not as a fleeting trend but as a quietly confident staple. It’s a reminder that great design speaks softly with enduring undertones.
