I recently came across ArkStudio, a multidisciplinary business in Lisbon founded by Margarida Matias that provides architectural, interior design, styling and photography services. I’m loving her style, which is both fresh and warm and a marriage of Portuguese and Nordic aesthetics. I think the Mercearia Prado might be my favorite project in their portfolio so far. It’s the small European grocery store of my dreams! I enjoyed playing “store clerk” (and “owner”) so much as a child, and this is exactly where I’d want to live out those childhood fantasies, bagging my customer’s purchases into their wicker baskets on wheels while talking about the fish stew they’re going to make for dinner, Grandma’s new perm and the local egg inventory is low this week (probably because Lola’s chickens are stressed again). I’ll also be bookmarking this for our future kitchen remodel!
