in contrast to yesterday’s plush post (always something for every taste here!) i think i’d call this look ‘rustic modern’ because while it is rather a little rough around the edges, these rooms still have a more polished, contemporary vibe. rustic, but never heavy or dark. you know i love my exposed roofbeams, and in many of these cases, they’ve contrasted that rustic, natural wood palette with some fresh white paint to compliment the darkness and brighten and make those darker elements stand out. the white ying to dark wood’s yang, if you will. there’s also a minimalism to many of these spaces which helps to lighten things up, too — rustic surroundings paired with vintage and mid-century modern furnishings to create a unique, eclectic and personal space. so raise those roofbeams and let’s get a little rough!
