The latest Trove store in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia offers shoppers the ultimate experiential shopping journey and takes the art of retail design to another level of wonder.
Spacemen was commissioned to conceive and realise this project that lives up to its name as a treasure trove of discovery. Edward Tan, founder of Spacemen and his team comprising Edward Chan, Wei Tan, Kuma Ni and Alvin Zhou have created something quite special in the Pavilion Damansara Heights Mall. This project makes a statement, draws the eye in and fills the senses through its sophisticated and original design. With the allure of refined perfumes and scented candles, Trove has a unique offering for a savvy clientele and Spacemen’s fabulous interior simply extends the experience.
The exterior facade of the store is clad in grey marble and the large, glazed floor-to-ceiling window and sliding door provide shoppers with an intriguing view of what lies inside. Furnishings are spare across the concise 63-square-metre floorplan; however, the feature of the interior is an enormous cylindrical stainless-steel installation with an anodised rainbow finish, positioned to the side of the space. All the colours of the rainbow shine as this ‘Scent Trove’ showcases product on the shelves and on the centrally placed, anodised circular table within the hub-like structure.
Around the perimeter of the interior there are curved rammed earth walls and coarse stucco has been sculpted to resemble the texture of soil. Display nooks have been introduced for product and the totality of the design becomes a futuristic journey for clients.

The grey marble used on the exterior, has been introduced within, broken and jagged as the façade and top of the basin counter and the textured stucco clads the walls as wainscotting. Terrazzo has been laid on the floor and the many coloured stones within the tiles complement the rainbow palette of the anodised steel in the installation.
With Trove, Tan and his team have created a visually spectacular interior for Trove and make this store a stand-out within a busy retail landscape. Thinking most definitely outside the box to create a circular inner sanctum, product is shown to perfection and along with the interior design, the various perfumes and candles on offer, make Trove a must-visit destination when in Kuala Lumpur.
