Are you actually f*cking serious, dude? As in, did you guys know this is the last regular article we’re going to bring you this year? I know! Where has the year gone? It’s frightening. But don’t fret – this doesn’t mean you’re not going to hear from us anymore. In the coming weeks, we will be bringing you roundups of the various topics and categories we cover on Yellowtrace, and give you the chance to catch up on 2018 and all the awesomeness we’ve shared together. But more about that in a minute.
In honour of the upcoming summer holidays in Australia (hooray!) I wanted to sign off on a summery note, with this fascinating image series of public shot by Stuttgart-based photographer .
Zweires’ personal project began in 2015. He shot some of these images from the helicopter flying hundreds of meters above ground, which in 2016 scored him the 3rd prize in the Sony World Photography Award for architecture category. Nowadays he also shoots with a purpose-built drone, although at much lesser heights than flying over with a helicopter. During the post-production phase, the German artist manipulates the surrounding pool grounds, copying and pasting pool tiles into a uniform canvas that removes any distractions, in turn framing his images. This approach gives his work a surreal edge reminiscent of an illustration or an architectural render. Pretty cool, huh? I thought so too.
