greetings and happy 2018! my apologies for taking off for a little longer than usual, but at the holidays i like to extend my downtime a bit and really refuel. and that i did! i’m excited to be back and ready to share what i hope to be loads of inspiration for you this year. as you may have seen from my instagram feed, i spent a bit of the holiday on L.A.’s westside, in santa monica and venice and i thought i’d start off this year’s posts with a visit to designer lily ashwell’s lovely little venice shop. you may recognize lily because she and her talented mum rachel ashwell of shabby chic fame share the same last name, but lily is an inspiration in her own right. her quaint shop is known for modern vintage-inspired women’s clothing and a very well-curated assortment of home and lifestyle goods as you can see from my pics of the shop. i’ve shared lily’s collection back in 2013 and i’m excited to give you a sweet peek into her current very cozy world.
Lily’s laid-back beachy hometown of Venice has been the ideal backdrop for her first brick + mortar. The corner shop which feels a bit like visiting someone’s homey cottage, opened in Summer 2015, is filled with her own designs and a selection of locally sourced, handcrafted lifestyle goods to create an all-encompassing experience. A third-generation avid flea marketer, Lily’s personal vintage finds often inspire the loving details and perfect fits of her own designs, and you’ll find a few authentic vintage finds in the shop as well. i highly recommend stopping by the rose cafe for a hot tea like we did, and then meandering up rose avenue until you reach the shop. it makes for a less crowded (think abbot kinney) and perfect afternoon getaway. you can also shop lily ashwell online and follow along on instagram.
