Located in the preserved Danish forest, EFFEKT’s Camp Adventure project grants visitors the opportunity to experience nature in a new and interesting way. Copenhagen-based architecture practice planned the public pathway in such a way that disturbances and damage to the natural environment are minimized. The key focus of the project was to engage citizens in the forest’s protection.

“Camp Adventure is a unique experience destination,” says the team. “A 900-meter boardwalk connected to a 45-meter-tall observation tower creates a unique opportunity to take a walk among the trees and experience the stunning nature of the preserved forest from another perspective.”

The treetop walk has been divided into a higher and lower walkway, guiding visitors through the youngest parts of the forest before they reach the oldest sections. “The tower and the boardwalk are seamlessly connected by a continuous ramp that makes the forest accessible to all – regardless of their physical condition,” says the team.

The most special part of the walk is found in the tower and observation deck that reaches 45 metres into the sky. “The geometry of the tower is shaped to enhance the visitor experience, shunning the typical cylindrical shape in favour of a curved profile with a slender waist and enlarged base and crown,” outline the architects. “This does not only increase the stability of the tower but also increase the observation deck area at the top of the tower while allowing for better contact to the forest canopy.”

Camp Adventure aims to protect a preserved forest while also allowing the public to experience its beauty. This is a unique way to explore nature, with EFFEKT encouraging visitors to stop and appreciate its magnificence in the busyness of their contemporary lives.
