Completed last year as a 1,750-square-meter design-build workplace in Bogotá, this project reflects Maple Studio’s ongoing exploration of how local landscapes can shape contemporary workplace environments. Developed under the concept Mountain Echoes, the office translates the emotional presence of Bogotá’s eastern hills into a spatial experience that connects users with the city’s geographic identity.
Bogotá is a place where architecture and nature coexist in constant visual proximity. The eastern mountains remain present across daily urban life, shaping orientation, atmosphere, and collective memory. Rather than referencing the landscape literally, the project interprets its qualities through light, color, and material transitions that evoke the density of morning fog, the clarity of high-altitude skies, and the warmth of the city’s brick architecture.
Delivered within an accelerated timeline of one and a half months of design and two and a half months of construction, the project was conceived through an integrated design-build process that ensured continuity between concept, execution, and workplace performance.
Spatial organization is structured around adaptability. A flexible layout composed of mobile furniture systems allows teams to reconfigure their environment according to evolving operational needs, supporting multiple modes of work while maintaining visual coherence across the floorplate. This strategy reinforces Maple Studio’s approach to workplaces as dynamic systems rather than fixed spatial arrangements.
Materiality establishes a calibrated contrast between grounding and warmth. A darker base layer, expressed primarily through modular carpet flooring, provides visual continuity and supports orientation across the workspace. Vertical surfaces introduce lighter wood finishes that soften the environment and reinforce a human-scaled atmosphere. Curved lighting elements subtly define workstation clusters, creating spatial rhythm without interrupting openness.
Color operates as a contextual connector between architecture and territory. Terracotta tones reference Bogotá’s brick-built urban fabric, while green accents evoke the eastern hills that frame the city skyline. Together, these elements construct a workplace identity rooted in place rather than abstraction.
Through Mountain Echoes, Maple Studio proposes a contextual design methodology in which landscape becomes an active generator of spatial experience. The result is a contemporary office environment that balances flexibility, clarity, and emotional resonance while strengthening the relationship between workplace culture and local identity.
