Workplace design and fit-out specialist Area is on site delivering the new 13,000 sqm Amsterdam workplace for Databricks at The Rock, Gustav Mahlerlaan, supporting the company’s continued growth in the region.
Databricks supports over 20,000 customers to build AI apps and agents on their enterprise data. The new expanded office supports long-term talent growth, regional collaboration and customer engagement.
Area has been appointed to deliver a full workplace design and fit-out solution, working in close partnership with project managers JAC to provide an integrated strategy-to-delivery approach across the project.
A workplace designed for scale and flexibility
Databricks’ expansion plans in Amsterdam mean the new environment needs to support a mix of engineering, product and cross-functional teams as they scale. Area’s design and planning approach focuses on flexibility and future capacity, enabling Databricks to adapt the workplace as team structures evolve.
The workplace will bring together a range of collaboration, focus and social settings that support day-to-day work while accommodating the needs of a fast-scaling organisation. Area’s integrated procurement and design-build model reduces interfaces, accelerates decision-making and helps maintain quality across the programme.
Customer-obsessed, brand-led design
The workplace includes front-of-house and meeting environments designed to support client interaction, technical discussions and partner activity.
The design balances Databricks’ global identity with local relevance, creating a consistent experience across its international hubs while giving the Amsterdam space a clear sense of place for employees and visitors.
Area’s role is to help translate that long-term ambition into a workplace that can support sustained headcount growth, strong collaboration and a consistent Databricks experience across regions.
