As a small and bespoke practice, F3 Studio delivers a range of projects that cover all aspects of residential design including renovations, additions and new builds. Flexibility is key for the studio in its work and approach and it connects with its clients to accomplish the perfect outcome on every project.

F3 Studio was established by James Woodford in 2015 with Travers Cunnington joining in 2019 and the two designers are passionate about their work. While the practice is small, there is a team of experts who collaborate on commissions, so that as a team, the best result is assured for every commission.

F3 Studio “delve into the needs and wants of each client”

Both Woodford and Cunnington have been working in the realm of design for many years, individually honing their skills, until the pair conceived and realised F3 Studio. Over the past ten years this design duo has completed many projects that are site specific and address a brief – all with the end result of happy clients and beautiful homes.

As Woodford explains, “I think the fact that we can bounce ideas off each other makes all the difference. It means that clients get the best service that we can possibly give them in terms of architecture and interiors. It’s robust at times but I think we just work really well together and we’re clearly very passionate about what we do.”

For Woodford, every project is different as is every brief and, as a building designer, he strives to translate a client’s requests into a tangible reality. Connection, discussion and working together is vital to achieve the ultimate vision of a custom-designed and -built home for clients.

Cunnington focuses on the interiors and brings to the fore his years of training to achieve the best outcomes through spatial planning, finishes and fittings, colour and material selections that will make a house a home. Together Woodford and Cunnington complement each other to achieve successful outcomes whatever the project.

Cunnington says, “It’s the problem-solving that excites me most. Delving into the needs and wants of each client – understanding them personally – and untangling them from the abundance of inspiration available in the media, to create an individual outcome that suits their life long term.”

Projects of note include Shoreham House, an expansive home located on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria and Brunswick House, Canterbury House and Ascot Vale House, all situated in suburban Melbourne. Each project presented challenges and these were addressed with outstanding results, whether the issue was the site, the spatial flow or the seamless incorporation of a heritage structure with a contemporary design.

With ten years of experience, F3 Studio is today busier than ever, with new projects on the drawing board that showcase the creativity and ingenuity of the partners. Success for F3 Studio is measured in the many clients who now live in a bespoke home of their own that ticks all the boxes and then some.

F3 Studio is hitting its stride and delivering projects that make a difference to the lives of their clients and doing it all with infinite style and panache.
