When I’m at a standing only concert festival or an event that has no available chairs, I sometimes wish I could whip out a seat from my bag. Now the dream is to be able to bring something around that is stable, truly portable, and bonus points if it’s also somehow eco-friendly.
The FoldSeat is probably the closest that can meet those requirements. Created by NYC-based furniture designer Aidan Reinhold, this is a monomaterial chair that is crafted entirely from aluminum and can fold complete flat. In fact, it can fit into a 12 x 17″ FedEx box or any such packaging material or even a backpack. So this means you can carry it around with you and just pull it out when you need it. And it’s also ideal for small apartments or temporary setups or even for those who just want to experience minimalist living.
