friday greetings, friends! it’s feeling very fall-ish here this weekend, so i’m going to try and sneak in some quality reading time. i just finished the postcard by anne berest which i loved, even though its subject matter (the nazi occupation of france) brought me to tears. i’ve read a lot on this subject, but this author’s incredibly descriptive prose moved me beyond anything i’d ever read before. now i’m on to sarah’s key by tatiana de rosnay, and it’s equally educational and just as compelling about the horrors of the holocaust. i know this doesn’t make for light reading, but i really feel both works of historical fiction should perhaps be required reading. i don’t know what draws me to this subject matter so intently, but i despise when history is attempted to be swept under the rug, and the injustice of it all makes me want to try and understand it better. well, on that cheery note, i’ll move on! i love this digital print, ‘not from london mate’, and while it may be a flattering repeat of ‘not from paris madam’ it still made me smile. let’s take a look at this week’s friday finds. x, v.
