it’s been a while since i’ve been excited about a new decor book (my last favorite is Nina Freudenberger’s ) but i’m really anxious to receive by Karen McCartney which is due out october 2nd. i’ve seen a few images around the web, and i can see already that its imperfect interiors are right up my alley. written by Karen McCartney, best known for her work in the world of interiors, architecture and design, explores interior spaces at the edges of the decoratively possible. The book details a series of eighteen fascinating homes that come from a truly creative place, transcending conventional notions of collection and display. This new beauty taps into a craving for a personal space with rich layers, a little bit of oddity and an irrepressible joie de vivre.
A mix of artists, interior designers, architects, collectors, gallerists, stylists, furniture designers and vintage retailers open the doors to their own homes — many for the first time allowing karen mccartney to share their homes through her well-curated eye. It focuses on exceptional decorating minds and how they express their personality through the objects with which they surround themselves, how they put those objects together and the energy that results.
