this week’s feed is for all you foodies out there. i recently fell happily down a bit of a rabbit hole. i read a sweet little book with a long name entitled by luke barr, the great-nephew of food writer M.F.K. Fisher. it’s a fun read about these major food influencers and their time together in provence, france. i got curious about julia and paul child’s summer home where the group often gathered for gastronomical evenings and ended up discovering that their rustic holiday home (complete with julia’s famous kitchen pegboard), La Pitchoune, was built on the homestead of Simone Beck, known as Bramafam, and La Pitchoune (or ‘La Peetch’) and after the death of her beloved husband julia left La Pitchoune back with the Beck family, and soon after in the 1990s, a woman named Kathie Alex purchased La Pitchoune and turned it into a beloved cooking school, Cooking With Friends.

in 2016 after a near-decade hiatus, has returned to its roots as a center for culture, food, and community after Makenna, a bright-eyed young Smith graduate (just like Julia) bought La Pitchoune from Kathie Alex and reopened this incredible retreat, event location and , . Pitchounians, as they have been called for decades return year after year, drawn by the magic of the french countryside, the good company, the fabulous food, wine, and of course the cooking classes! here’s a look at what you might have to look forward to should you, too decide to visit . i’m definitely adding it to my must-do list!
