something that’s always been on my creative wish list is creating my own unique home furnishings collection. so i’m over the moon excited to announce that i’ve done just that, collaborating with Christiane Lemieux’s company The Inside. I was intrigued and excited by the opportunity to work together, creating an affordable collection with a bohemian vibe but with a modern, fresh twist, including colors like indigo blue, pale pinks and mustard yellow with the intention that they’d look great paired together, layering different pieces from our collection. The Inside x SF Girl by Bay Collection features 12 unique patterns inspired by my sourcing trips to France for Super Marché and my love of vintage, capturing the bohemian modern vibe I love.
For the collection’s prints and patterns, I was inspired by French ticking stripes, Japanese katazome stencils and even a touch of Moroccan textiles — and we’ve added some beautiful solid velvets, as well. I tried to create upholstery textiles that were stylish and on trend, but very liveable and that would blend well with a lot of different aesthetics. It’s almost a global collection in that it’s got a fusion of French, Moroccan, Japanese and American design influences, all made in the USA. I had the idea that these pieces should compliment an eclectic vibe and also pair well with pieces in my vintage collection from Super Marché like vintage portrait paintings, mirrors, and accessories, as well as your existing family heirlooms and vintage treasures. I’m of a mind that a mix of well-curated collections of new pieces with old is always a lot more interesting — pieces that mean something to you will make for a look that’s ‘uniquely you’ and a rather effortless ‘unstyled’ personal style.
The Inside x SF Girl by Bay Collection includes headboards, pillows, room dividers, ottomans, benches and chairs to add to your home, with the idea for you to build on those pieces over time — it’s much more fun to instead design your home slowly, adding to these investment pieces with treasures you find from travel, flea markets, and vintage shops. They’re meant to mix and match, or ‘mismatch’ because I love an unexpected pairing of prints and colors and an interesting contrast. I quite like the idea of seeing these pieces layered in unique ways – the possibilities are kind of endless. And, should you like to see these fabrics up close, there’s free shipping on all swatch orders so you can buy with confidence and see our fabrics and patterns in real life, in your real room. we’ve even designed removable wallpaper — one of my favorite elements of The Inside collection.
I’ve added one of our Mid-Century Benches in the Doro Tusk print with black legs to the foot of my bed, and styled it with white bed linens, a vintage hand-dyed black crochet throw (coming soon to Super Marché), a round jute rug and an oversized print of palm trees by photographer Laure Joliet over the bed. The effect is one that calming but feels almost like I’ve stepped away on vacation to Spain or Morocco. I hope you’ll have a look at The Inside x SF Girl by Bay Collection — I couldn’t be more thrilled with how these pieces came to life and am so excited to share them with you!
