Author John Green’s books have frequently made homes for themselves onscreen, from The Fault in Our Stars to Paper Towns to Looking for Alaska. Next up to the plate is an adaptation of his 2017 novel Turtles All The Way Down, which premieres May 2 on Max.
Directed by Hannah Marks and starring Isabela Merced (), Turtles All The Way Down centers on high schooler Aza (Merced), who struggles with a constant stream of anxious, obsessive thoughts. As seen in the trailer, these thoughts include worries about the sheer amount of bacteria living inside us, and whether others perceive her as “crazy.” But when Aza reconnects with her childhood crush Davis (Felix Mallard, ), she’ll embark on a journey that will prompt her to reconsider her potential for love, friendship, and happiness.
