as you probably already know, i’ve long been a collector of vintage paintings and we sell loads at super marché —- my preference being the painted portrait, but i love the look of all varieties of vintage paintings. i like their bit of whimsy, never taking them too seriously, because let’s be honest, sometimes people can think old paintings just a little weird, but personally, i just think they add character and charisma to a room. a collection or grouping of several paintings always looks smashing, but a single painting stashed somewhere unexpected —- like in a kitchen or peeking out from a bookcase can be really interesting. old paintings tell stories and add a wonderful conversation piece to a simple nook or unique location. i’m headed up to the bay area this week to photograph a new slew of vintage paintings for super marché that just arrived from france, so i thought i’d share some strangers to inspire you!
