eclectic — the real thing is hard to come by. i feel as though i see loads of decor that’s trying to be eclectic, or staged as such, but a truly eclectic space is one that i think evolves over time — heirloom pieces meet brand new finds, and personal trinkets shine. it’s a look that is often imitated, but should actually come about quite effortlessly. for that to happen i believe you have to hold on to only what really matters to you and makes you happy to be around and then your style just happens naturally. it’s all your beloved books and artwork, mismatched chairs and unexpected textile pairings, vintage light fixtures and worn-in slouchy sofas that you just can’t part with. i know the feeling all too well of wanting a room to come together with the simple twitch of your nose, but try and be patient and let it grow and ripen over time — a little bit like true love.
