For Medline Netherlands, an international provider of medical supplies, we developed a forward-looking office concept designed to support both local operations and a broader European ambition.

Rooted in a European workplace strategy, the project aimed to create a coherent and easily recognizable office environment aligned with Medline’s brand identity, while remaining adaptable to local cultural and operational contexts. The new 2,800 sqm headquarters in Utrecht embodies this balance: a flexible, functional, and connected workspace that reflects Medline’s international stature while responding to the specific needs of its Dutch team.

From Strategy to Space
Acting as both advisor and broker, Parella supported Medline throughout the entire process — from defining the European workplace strategy to delivering a clear and structured interior design concept.

The journey began with the development of a global workplace framework, formalized in a shared European design book applicable to multiple locations (Utrecht, France, Madrid). This document establishes a recognizable international standard while allowing each country to interpret the concept in a way that reflects its local identity.

In parallel, we advised on real estate strategy and relocation. Medline moved from its former premises at the WTC near Arnhem Central Station to a more central location in the Netherlands, offering increased surface area, improved accessibility, and an environment better aligned with evolving ways of working. We also supported the sublease of the existing lease through 2028 under flexible, market-aligned conditions.

A Flexible Design for Growth
The Utrecht office deploys the European concept in a way that anticipates future expansion. Designed to accommodate occupancy levels ranging from 75% to 125%, the layout integrates 100% desk capacity, touchdown spaces for all teams, modular meeting rooms, and an optimized floor plan that ensures fluid circulation.

The interior architecture creates an open and connected environment structured by transparent glass partitions and strong horizontal lines. These elements subtly evoke the rhythm of a covered market hall — a place of exchange, interaction, and activity. The result is a dynamic yet organized workspace that encourages collaboration while maintaining clarity and legibility.

Identity, Comfort, and Performance
The design language is sober and refined, based on Medline’s core brand colors, primarily blues and neutrals. These are complemented by carefully selected local accents chosen by the Dutch team, reinforcing a sense of ownership while maintaining international coherence.

Particular attention was paid to acoustic comfort and overall performance. An integrated acoustic concept combines technical solutions with aesthetic finishes to ensure a high-quality working environment. Clear and branded signage enhances wayfinding for both employees and international visitors, strengthening the company’s identity throughout the space.

A Coherent and Evolving European Hub
Delivered in collaboration with specialized partners (Wurks, Planeffect, Haklander, Desque, Mcart, Green Stories, Dasco, Bit4U, Linthorst, among others) under Parella’s coordination, the new Medline office in Utrecht translates a strategic European vision into a tangible spatial experience.

It stands as a coherent and scalable workplace — one that supports growth, fosters collaboration, and makes Medline’s international identity visible, while remaining firmly anchored in its local context.
