Actiu has long taken a people-and-planet approach to design, focusing on human-centric design which also benefits the environment.

This commitment has spurred many remarkable developments in sustainability as a whole, with the latest certificates recognising Actiu’s presence as a leader on the world-stage for environmental responsibility.

The mantra “Think local, act global,” embodies Actiu’s dual ethos of individual and universal duty. The Actiu headquarters in Castalla, Alicante is internationally recognised as one of the healthiest workplace environments in the world.

The Actiu headquarters serves as the production site for more than 156,000 standard products and a further 93,000 customised solutions. Consisting of over 200,000 m2, the Technology Park is divided between headquarters, logistic warehouse, production plants and green areas. The landscaped surroundings of our headquarters include more than 2,500 trees, with a special presence of Mediterranean pines, cypresses, palm trees and olive trees.

Self-sufficient resources

The three manufacturing and logistics warehouses feature solar panels which utilise inverters to convert generated direct current into alternating current, which is then injected into the main power grid. This process also produces heat, serving as a heating system during winter. In fact, Actiu’s Technology Park has the largest photovoltaic plant on an industrial roof in Europe with state-of-the-art technology and performance, generating 7 million kWh of solar energy, 6 times more than Actiu’s needs.

Furthermore, the design incorporates a rainwater collection system. It rains very little in the Castalla area, and as such all the roofs of Actiu’s buildings are set up to collect rainwater and store it in underground tanks with a capacity of up to 12,000 m3 of water. A large beam-channel structure runs along the roof, creating deep irrigation ditches. This unique feature extends beyond the roof, forming a linear water sprout, which not only reduces the height perception of the logistics building but also adds a distinct sense of flow and rhythm to the building’s façade.

Evolution and Environment

In recent years Actiu has achieved market-leading advancements in quality, largely attributed to the progress made in the melamine printing sector. The designs now exhibit a level of unique detail which faithfully replicates natural elements like wood, predicting and adapting to the latest trends in architecture and interior decoration.

This culture of evolution also extends to sustainability and well-being, with Actiu pioneering the application of considered environmental design choices. The result is a fusion of exquisite design aesthetics, environmental consciousness, and enhanced comfort.

With a focus on quality, adaptability, and well-being, Actiu has successfully fused quality design with a deep respect for the environment, creating a harmonious balance that benefits both individuals and the planet.
