rugs are the designer’s dream come true. if you’ve tired of your current decor, simply start by changing out your area rug and build from there — and voila, you’ve got an entirely new look. i’ve partnered with to show you just what i mean. carries the most beautiful, high-quality wool rugs and is founded on the scandinavian tradition of functional design with a minimalist aesthetic. they like to make it simple for you to choose a rug because they know it’s the foundation to designing a beautiful room. i chose three of my favorite rugs: , and — styling them up in my living room and office to show you how to easily change up your vibe, literally building from the ground up.

let’s start with Nordic Knots’ . this plush cut-pile rug is made with 100% new zealand wool for great quality and a soft feel, woven by hand so it feels nice under your feet. i love the early 20th-century swedish design that inspired this collection, and designed it with the idea that it might become like a piece of art for your floor, giving your room a modern touch in a gorgeous shade of pink with black and white accents. i’ve paired it with my white sectional sofa, and a mix of white, pink, black and gray throw pillows and ottomans. and i’ve accessorized my white scandinavian-inspired saarinen coffee table with color-coordinated ceramics and books to give the room a whole new, cohesive look.

newest design, is one of my personal favorites, based on Scandinavian tattoo art. co-founder Liza Laserow’s grandfather sailed the Nordic seas and growing up she found herself curious about the stories behind the tattoos on his weathered sailor’s arms. inspired by her childhood memories and the heritage of Nordic nomadic tattoos has collaborated with renowned tattoo artist Erik Lööf of Stockholm Classic Tattoo Studio to create plush, super chic rug that looks perfect with a black and white themed room (it also comes in the really pretty which is a darker shade). to style around this color scheme, i added a stack of black coffee table books, natural and black accessories and changed out the art gallery for a much more graphic look with black & white photographs and vintage art prints. i’ve kept the prints on the pillows to a minimum to allow the tattoo design of the stand out. the black leather chair and ottoman complete a really sophisticated, but fun look (who doesn’t love a little tattoo art?) and the rug makes the black and white books on my built-in shelving really pop.

love black and white, like i do? then you’re going to love the . it’s got a distinctly Scandinavian, classic design with a minimalist aesthetic — a great complement to the rest of your décor. for this look, i added a splash of mustard yellow to compliment the black and white pattern of the plus rug with a vintage yellow chair and a pop artwork gallery and then added a bright yellow velvet pillow. the accents on the coffee table are placed in a vintage yellow ceramic tray for another pop of color. every time i changed things up around my living room, i liked one look better than the other, but then again kept going back and forth! one space, but so many decor possibilities with these rugs as your base.

now let’s see the in my office — it gives my office an inspiring burst of feminine color and pairs really well with my existing mid-century modern pieces like the case study daybed and magazine rack-coffee table. it’s looking swell with an oversized art print and pillows in pastels and especially stands out beautifully against white-washed hardwood floors, and i love the look of the black steel & glass cabinet paired with the pattern in the .

last look! let’s see how i can completely change the look of my office when i swap out the with the , shall we? completely different, and i’d venture to say a more neutral or slightly masculine look. i’ve kept the look pretty minimal here, again letting the nomad shine as the statement piece that it is, with minimal black & white art, pillows and natural light wood furnishings. but you can see that the rug makes the exact same furniture look uniquely new, with just a bit of styling and changing out of the artwork and textiles. easy, right?! it’s your turn!
