okay, bear with me a little bit on this one, but i’m definitely seeing this trend around town and i’m not sure quite how to nail down what i’d call it, so we’re settling for a kind of bohemian whimsy for the moment. perhaps a better definition will come to me, but imagine if you will if wes anderson, salvador dalí, and town & country magazine got together and designed an ornately playful dream house. it would have a very romantic aesthetic and be one part kind of kitschy, preppy, with some over the top outrageous surrealism and another part parisian or british whimsy. hard to picture, right? but i love it because this very eclectic and perhaps eccentric look doesn’t take itself too seriously and is definitely lots of fun. you might find fearless designers like leaning in this direction, or a recent name in design i keep seeing pop up, — i love everything about what he’s creating these days, including the in paris and his new book . anyway, i know it won’t be for everyone, but i’m more than just amused by it, i’ve found myself so cheered up by it i’m already adding bits of pieces of this look to my own decor. cheerio!
