i’m not even sure when i became enamored of the art of gemstones, or gemology as art — i don’t even feel entirely clear on what it is i’m sharing here today (i may be out of my league scientifically). but i do know i quite like these kinds of nerdy, scientific images of, quite literally, shiny rocks, and i think they’d look terrific hanging on our walls. the top image is by english artist damien hirst, and he appears to be doing quite well in the art world, so maybe i’m on to something.
