Bylu Design was engaged by Pirelli, an Italian tire company, to design their offices located in Shanghai, China.

Pirelli was founded in Milan in 1872. It is an Italian multinational company based in Milan. Pirelli is one of the largest tire manufacturer in the world and it is focused on the consumer business, producing tires for cars, motorcycles and bicycles.

Pirelli Headquarter in Shanghai is located on the 16th floor of L’Avenue, the iconic luxury shopping center and office building. The structure, with its rounded edges and white-tile façade, is a distinct area landmark.

The new space houses a diverse range of separate office spaces and open working areas. The entrance is not the usual reception desk; it is an experience. It’s symbolic of the passage from the present to the future of tire industry. It is also a recreation zone, area for corporate events, as well as a centre for informal communication. The interior is made of contrast tones, with concrete texture vinyl floor, light grey walls and bright colours. The centre space, made of a led wall and dark grey floor, is the perfect stage for key element: a model of F1 car.

Offices and meeting rooms are located on the North and south sides of the plan, while the east/west side is open workspace, which maximize natural light, create a sense of spaciousness and allow employees to interact with each other.

The place is functionally articulated, with offices incorporating the latest technological equipment in order to attract and meet the needs of any employee. A variety of support spaces of different sizes have been created to being used for both individual and team work, allowing different levels of privacy. There are small discussion rooms, used for short conversations, and meeting rooms from twelve up to fifty seats, reconfigurable according to each user’s need.

The lounge, entertainment areas and coffee corners were designed specifically for young and productive employees.

Essential to the design was also the client’s request to integrate the brand identity of Pirelli into the space. For example, by using for furniture and walls, some touches of red and yellow tones, that visually recall the palette of the company logo, and for glass partition stickers, a tyre’s footprint. During the design and construction phases of the works, Bylu Design worked closely with the client’s employees, making them an active participants of the creative progress.
