SCOR, a leading organisation, partnered with Space Matrix to solve a multi-faceted challenge for their Singapore workplace. Their goals were ambitious: they wanted to attract and retain top talent, create a strong sense of community, embody their ‘OneSCOR’ culture, spark creativity, and prioritise employee wellness at work – all through strategic and thoughtful workplace design.
Space Matrix embraced design thinking, conducting in-depth exercises like visioning and focus groups to understand SCOR’s needs. This revealed key drivers: adaptability, self-direction, security, technology integration, and evolving work styles. This knowledge informed the creation of a resilient and user-centric workspace.
Through close collaboration with SCOR, the Space Matrix team designed a dynamic and adaptable environment. We seamlessly integrated elements promoting mindfulness, inclusion, technology, and innovation. The aim was to foster meaningful interactions, encourage agile thinking, and support both collaboration and focus work.
Our design strategy included a variety of ‘we’ work settings tailored to different personas and team interaction styles. We moved beyond the traditional ‘desk = work’ and ‘meeting = room’ concepts, focusing on user experience, performance, and overall well-being. These new space types, fostering an agile mindset, encouraged collaboration and strengthened connections.
But collaboration wasn’t the only focus. We also designed a range of ‘me’ work settings for focused individual work. These spaces were thoughtfully equipped with fixed technology to optimise furniture and ensure peak productivity for individual tasks.
By integrating both ‘we’ and ‘me’ work settings, we catered to SCOR’s diverse workforce. The emphasis on collaboration, balanced with dedicated focus areas, created a perfect equilibrium within the new office environment.
Through our partnership, SCOR achieved their goals. The new workspace fosters collaboration, enhances employee experience, and drives innovation. The flexible and adaptable design caters to diverse work styles, promotes connections, and reflects SCOR’s ‘OneSCOR’ culture. Employees feel empowered to work independently while being part of a supportive community. The integration of mindfulness, technology, and innovation has led to an agile mindset, fostering continuous improvement and creativity.
Overall, SCOR’s new workspace is a testament to the power of design thinking and a user-centric approach to workplace design.
