SEARCH Homeless Services specializes in helping those who are experiencing homelessness move into jobs and stable housing. We designed their new 53,000 square foot space in downtown Houston. TDS designed the building as a blend of adaptive reuse and new construction. The two buildings connect through bridges. Conference rooms line these bridges with dynamic lighting that creates a presence from street level. Starting at their ground-floor client-facing areas, there are graphics to visualize SEARCH’s mission to engage & stabilize, house, and educate. As one heads up to the second floor, you are greeted with office workstations divided by department. Filled with their blue branding color throughout, we wanted to create a space for their clients and employees to grow. The graphics line the floor with encouraging words for the SEARCH team. The third floor has a training room that can be used for group meetings, debriefs, and other training sessions. The furniture in the training room is adaptable to fit each type of meeting. Across the hall, there is a staff breakroom / lounge. Acoustic ceiling panels line the ceiling with lighting to create a quiet environment for staff to refuel and recharge. From floor to ceiling windows, outdoor patios, sleek finishes, and a custom mural on the exterior building SEARCH’s new home has it all.
