after staying in that beautiful , i came home and kind of went ‘ugh’. not that i don’t love my home, because i very much do, but man, do i have a lot of ‘stuff’! living those few days in lisbon in a very simple, but also quite stunning apartment taught me that i honestly just do not need so much of these things that surround me. my books — they’re not going anywhere, but some of the collectibles i hoard are bound for a new life elsewhere. i just felt a little claustrophobic coming home to a much less simpler space. i don’t need a knick knack on every surface! these spaces inspire me, too — they show tasteful restraint in all the right places. time to do a little paring down, i’m afraid. i’m not saying it’s going to be easy, mind you — i love so much of what i’ve collected, but a little less won’t hurt me!
