Inspired by hotel design, the new office for Strategic Hotels & Resorts, Inc., provides a sophisticated space in a boutique building with sweeping views of Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood.
The client, Strategic Hotels & Resorts, Inc., is a real estate investment trust that owns and asset-manages luxury hotels in North America and Europe and employs hotel management companies to operate its management contracts and operating leases. As a hospitality-centered firm, weaving in high-end elements and welcoming spaces reminiscent of historic hotel design was key to the approach.
The ample natural light from the surrounding floor-to-ceiling windows provides the canvas and foundation for the luxurious and polished design and creates a sense of quiet elegance. Drawing on this, leather, brass trims, and light-grained wood floors complement the dark ceiling and light fixtures while paying homage to boutique hotel interiors. The space features a variety of offices and flexible collaboration areas for heads-down and collaborative work.
