Target REDcard 5% Off + off 0, GC w/ 0+, 1% Off Via CircleTarget has been coming out with a variety of offers and announcements that should interest regular shoppers:

  • New Target REDcard applicants (credit or debit) will get a coupon for $50 off $100+ future purchase. Restrictions listed below. Apply online or in-store by 9/28. REDcard gets you 5% off at Target & (Target gift cards excluded, in-store Starbucks included) and free 2-day shipping on qualifying items.
  • Existing REDcard holders get a additional 5% off coupon for a single in-store purchase when you use your RedCard through Wallet in the Target app during the sale (ends 9/28). This is in addition to the standard 5% off.
  • Free $10 Target gift card when you spend $100 using Drive Up, Order Pickup ,or Shipt. This works on anything you would otherwise just buy in the store. I like the idea of basically making Target a “drive-thru” big box store.
  • There are a bunch of 20% off Cartwheel offers in the Target App this week.
  • However… those Cartwheel offers will soon be called Target Circle offers. Target is expanding their Circle rewards program nationwide starting October 6th. You basically earn 1% back on your Target purchases, which you can redeem at Target later. This 1% also stacks with the 5% back via REDcard. Okay, I’ll take it.

Looks like they are still pushing hard for people to use the Target app for everything – browsing, ordering, pickup, and paying. The REDcard debit card version connects directly to a designated checking account, letting you avoid a “hard” credit check (and new credit account) on one of the 3 major bureaus. A reader reports that Target uses ID Analytics (now SageStream), another consumer reporting agency.

Here’s the list of restrictions on that $50 off $100 coupon. Could you make it any longer, Target?
