While residential interiors contribute aesthetic beauty and inspire awe, they also provide form and aid function because living well is the essence of everything. Creating a place of sanctuary is essential, however ensuring that products in our homes also enhance our wellbeing is no longer a luxury but a necessity. If the last years have shown us anything, it is to take care of ourselves in the best ways possible.
With this in mind, the supporter of the inaugural The Interior Space category this year is

The story of Technogym is powerful. Nerio Alessandri, together with his brother Pierluigi, founded the company, designing the first machine in his garage at the age of 22. The name came from technology (techno) and sports (gym). From these humble beginnings the company has risen to become a global brand in products and digital technologies for fitness, sport and health for wellness.

Technogym offers a complete ecosystem of connected smart equipment, digital services, on-demand training experiences and apps that allow every end-user to access a completely personalised training experience anytime and anywhere. The products for home users are sleek and compact and to date have been utilised in some 500,000 private homes world-wide.
One collection, perfect for the home, is the Personal Line range designed by renowned Italian architect Antonio Citterio and Toan Nguyen. This collection includes Run Personal, a revolutionary treadmill; Bike Personal a high-end bike with compact dimensions; Recline Personal, the recipient of the 2012 Best of the Best Red Dot Design product category that also includes a seat and backrest co-designed by Vitra and Citterio and replicates the features of Vitra’s ID Chair; Cross Personal, for a total body workout; Kinesis Personal, that offers 200 exercise possibilities in less than 10 square metres and Power Personal, a collection of workout options in one system.

Addressing technology for today and the future, all products are equipped with Technogym’s pioneering Live console, a digital user interface that offers an extensive on-demand video library with guided trainer-led sessions, personalised athletic workouts, engaging outdoor virtual training and endless entertainment options.
While Technogym products are ideal in a home setting it is impressive to note that in 2000 it was chosen as the Official Supplier for athletic training at the Olympics. At the Sydney Olympics more than 10,000 athletes trained on Technogym equipment, as have other athletes over the next seven Olympic Games. Now that’s a stamp of approval.

What sets Technogym apart, however, is its commitment to a philosophy where good design, attention to detail and the elegance of a product to complement an interior design can create a space that enhances physical and mental balance. To this end, the company created Let’s Move for a Better World in 2014, a social campaign aimed at reducing obesity and sedentariness.
‘Healthy people make a healthy planet’ is a Technogym catch cry and the company is pushing forward and making change happen with this program. To date, 32 countries and 196,556 people have participated through exercising and amassing MOVEs, and a tangible benefit is the donation of Technogym equipment by the winner to nominated schools or institutions. It’s a wonderful initiative and embodies exactly what Technogym represents.

As the sponsor of The Living Space, where interior design is the process that makes a home unique, Technogym understands that there is much to recommend the idea that living well on every level, should include fitness at home, and is something we should all embrace.
