The best of architecture and design is always evocative; it makes us feel, think, remember, and imagine something beyond the sum of its parts. Tapping into this sensory plane often comes from allegories, references to times, places, things, or even people, where their meanings and ques can be imbued into the creation of spaces and objects.

The architecture of water

One of the greatest collaborators for evocative design is water, an element that beguiles designers with its movement and form. Whether it’s a gently flowing stream, a gushing waterfall, or a sparkling lake, the changeability and purity of water is the inspiration for many iconic designs across the globe.

For Hansgrohe Group, water has been the foundation for their brand. As a global leader in premium bathroom products, they have spent the better part of a century mastering the architecture of water: creating showerheads, tapware, sanitary fittings, and more that master the delivery of the most precious of elements.

Their newest faucet, Tecturis, takes this to the next level, picking up on the aesthetic and functional beauty of water and bringing it to life in a new way. Combining design, sustainability, comfort, and range, Tecturis is all about celebrating daily water routines by leveraging exceptional design to enhance the delivery of water.

Sleek and slim, this new faucet features a reduced handle height with a cartridge that sits to the back of the tap’s base, keeping the silhouette minimal and improving the cleaning experience. Splash back is reduced thanks to a swivelling spout, while inside the design, a flat integrated spray regulator reduces the formation of limescale and elevates the delivery process every time.

Architectural in form and function, Tecturis is available in two shape variations, with the Tecturis S offering gentle curves and lines, while Tecturis E is modernist and cubic. Both models can be finished in hansgrohe’s four FinishPlus surfaces: chrome, matt black, matt white, and brushed bronze, to create an architectural statement for every kind of aesthetic.

Performance and sustainability has also been considered, with Tecturis’ EcoSmart+ technology reducing water consumption to a maximum of four litres per minute. This reduction in flow is 20 percent greater than other EcoSmart products in the Hansgrohe range, resulting in a faucet that balances water saving with aesthetic design. Additionally, Tecturis models are all integrated with CoolStart technology, meaning hot water only flows when the faucet handle is actively moved downwards, saving on energy often used for superfluous or incidental hot water production.

hansgrohe’s new Tecturis range is the Poseidon of design. Inextricable from the element it carries, Tecturis makes the delivery of water an evocative art form; creating an architecturally informed silhouette that perfects temperature and flow so every user can be the master of their daily water rituals.
