Hot Design Folks has rolled out a fresh take on hospitality design with its latest project, Baker & Cook and Plank Sourdough Pizza in Dairy Farm, Singapore. The 88-square-metre space is a blend of artisanal heritage and contemporary finesse, kneaded together with a deep appreciation for the art of breadmaking.

A monolithic limestone counter, finished in honed and split-face textures, anchors the space — its tactile surface recalling dough in motion. Overhead, a ceiling installation reminiscent of bread cooling racks bakes in a rhythmic interplay of form and function. Whitewashed brick walls and light timber finishes set a ebullient yet polished tone, while loaf tray-inspired sconces add a subtle nod to the baking process.

“We approached this project with a deep appreciation for how artisanal baking engages all the senses,” says Evgeniya Lazareva, founder of Hot Design Folks. “Our goal was to create a space where the craft of baking, from bread to pizza making, becomes an integral part of the customer experience.”

The Plank Sourdough Pizza section is marked by rustic pine timber planks, the brand’s signature, alongside an open pizza oven — turning the act of baking into a showcase. A communal table extends from the bread counter, fostering a shared experience, while a long-upholstered banquette, wrapped in textiles, echoes the flour sacks.

Furniture from Karimoku New Standard, GUBI, Maruni, Pedrali, New Volumes and HAY bring sophistication without stifling the relaxed atmosphere. The 48-seat layout — 35 indoors, 13 outdoors — features a suspended acoustic ceiling baffle in timber veneer and custom millwork in pine and Dekton quartz. With this project, Hot Design Folks has proofed a concept that rises beyond aesthetics, embedding the essence of artisanal baking into every element of the space.
