I’ve been following Sanda Vuckovic Pagaimo of Little Upside Down Cake for several years now, and the self-described “happy melancholic girl living in Lisbon” is the kind of photographer who makes me want to pick up my camera more often. She has a way of capturing the lovely and serene “particles of moments”, as she calls them, in her patinated and sun-drenched city — to see what i mean, visit her website and follow her instagram feed. When I asked her about the quality of light in Lisbon, she answered, “Would it be too much to say that Lisbon/Portugal light doesn’t exist anywhere else? Is it because of the ocean or cobblestone reflection, I really don’t know…but it’s strong and bright and special.” Although I haven’t had the pleasure of visiting Portugal, I’m very much looking forward to experiencing that special light for myself one day. Oof, and all those azulejo tiles everywhere — I think I’d spend an obscene amount of time poking around buildings, taking a million photos of them all! Have any of you experienced that magical Lisbon light?
