I love a beautifully-designed lighting design because I truly believe a really great one has the ability to illuminate a space – both literally, and metaphorically. Besides the physical light that it quite obviously emits, a well-designed lighting design can add manifolds of personality and charisma to a room or space. They can function as sculptural pieces, that are an extension of your personal taste and preference, truly exhibiting the richness and niche-ness of your curation capabilities, or if they’re the portable kind you can carry them along with you to illuminate anything anytime anywhere. And one such innovative lighting design I recently laid eyes upon is the Mouro Lamp by Patricia Perez.

Designed by Patricia Perez for Case Furniture, the Mouro Lamp is a pretty minimalist lamp defined by simple geometric shapes. The playful and portable Mouro Lamp is named after a lighthouse in Perez’s hometown. The lamp is made up of a disc-shaped LED light and a rectangular frame that holds it, while also doubling up as a handle. It has a unique yet simple structure and form that make it super easy to use and carry around.
The central light source of the lamp can be rotated 360 degrees, and it provides directional illumination. It features three brightness settings which allow you to set the lamp to different moods and requirements. Another key feature of the Mouro Lamp is its portability. It has an easy-to-carry portable design that can be recharged via a discreet USB port, located at the bottom of the disc element.
The Mouro Lamp has a light steel frame that can be powder coated in black, white, grey, or blue. This allows you to choose a color that perfectly suits your desk and home office. The lamp can be used both indoors and outdoors, but it will need protection from moisture if used outdoors. All in all, the Mouro Lamp is an aesthetically pleasing product that doesn’t occupy too much real estate on your work desk. It has excellent functionality, and customization options as well, so you can curate a lamp that perfectly suits you and your personal taste.
