Today I’m excited to share one of my all-time favorite design publications! After seeing a need for independent French magazines focused on creative people, the multi-talented Sophie Denux launched Toc Toc Toc Editions magazine in 2010. Not only is she the editor, but she also writes, photographs, and creatively directs most of the stories, with some help from contributors along the way. The former ethnography and geography student loves to travel and picks each issue’s location intuitively without planning. The last two issues of Toc Toc Toc were set in Morocco and Tunisia, and she cites the Mediterranean region as being a major source of inspiration for her right now.
when asked how she would describe her magazine, she says, “I think it’s an authentic magazine. I have [no] ads, no product placement, and readers feel that. I try to do features about people who [don’t get] a lot of press. I appreciate the search of someone who has a rich inner universe [rather] than the rush of the latest trends. I do the layout, too, in a very simple way. It’s more a book than a magazine.” You can also follow Sophie on Instagram!
