We spend the majority of our day sitting on chairs, whether we’re working in our home office, enjoying a meal, or simply sitting and reading a book for leisure! Hence, this piece of furniture needs to be not only comfortable but ergonomic and aesthetic as well. And we’ve curated a collection of chair designs that meet all these criteria! 1. Peach Easy Chair
The visually intriguing was created by Annabella Hevesi to introduce and experiment with a kind of mechanical joint. The unique chair features an innovative mechanical joint solution that allows the foam to be shaped in a completely new and refreshing manner.
Why is it noteworthy?
The joint enables the foam to be shaped without cutting or casting – the first method creates a lot of waste, and the second method is quite expensive. Instead, a new ‘tufting’ technique was employed to distort the foam and create the shell out of the chair.
What we like
- Not only reduces waste but also offers a mechanical connection between the components, eliminating the need for glue
What we dislike
- The chair offers a slouched posture, which may not be ergonomic for the user
2. The Tone Chair
At first glance, grabs your attention for a variety of reasons, primarily because it is oh-so-simple in its form, and yet so solid in its character. The Tone Chair was the result of the exploration of a simple metallic tube and bending process on the part of Filipic.
Why is it noteworthy?
Four tubes, and and two pieces of sheet metal were used to build the chair. The two pieces of sheet metal were used to form the seat and the backrest, while the four metallic tubes were utilized to construct the legs of the chair.
What we like
- A smooth and linear furniture design whose various components effortlessly merge together
- Features bright and loud yellow, which adds manifolds of character to the stark and minimal chair
What we dislike
- The form of the chair can be considered too simple and stark for some
- Doesn’t look comfortable to sit on for longer durations
3. Nice Chair
Designed by Ali Shoieb, is designed to be a ‘disassembled chair’. Space-consuming furniture is the bane of tiny modern-day apartments with space constraints. Hence, Shoieb wanted to design a furniture piece that does not occupy too much space and can be assembled and disassembled with ease.
Why is it noteworthy?
The minimal wooden chair can function as an ordinary chair to sit on, or even a rocker that can be moved back and forth. The rounded bottom edges of the Nice chair allow it to rock back and forth, creating a harmonious lull that could guide anyone to fall asleep. On, the other end, you can slide in a tabletop between the ridges on the arms of the chair, transforming it into a convenient space to work in.

4. Vale Collection
London-based design firm LAYER designed for US furniture brand KFI Studios. The Vale collection is a range of eco-friendly chairs and stool created from recycled PET bottles, and are a protest against the plastic waste that is drowning Earth’s oceans and landfills at an alarming rate.
Why is it noteworthy?
The Vale collection is LAYER and KFI Studio’s eco-friendly solution to this ever-growing issue of plastic waste. In a day and age, where almost 9 million tons of furniture are found in landfills, the Vale collection is a refreshing change and a fine specimen of sustainable furniture.
What we like
- The elegant-looking chairs and stools feature shells and seats built from a tactile felt material. The tactile material is manufactured from recycled PET bottles, and it is eco-friendly and quite sturdy, durable, and easy to maintain
What we dislike
- The aesthetics of the chairs and stool are a bit mundane. More details could have been added to them
5. The 6-alloy Chair
Conceptualized by SUNRIU Design, doesn’t look like any of the regular or traditional chairs you see on the market, or anywhere around you. It looks as if a stool and a chair had a love child – resulting in the intriguing-looking 6-alloy chair.
Why is it noteworthy?
Built using aluminum and Piñatex (leather created from pineapple leaf), the 6-alloy chair features an aluminum body, that comprises of three tubes. The three tubes are subtly interlocked together, with two pieces of leather forming the seating section, and a nifty storage section beneath it (or a cute spot for your pet to nap in).
What we like
- Functions as seating space for your pet and you
- Made using eco-friendly elements
What we dislike
- The leather at the bottom of the chair may not fare well to pets who are in the chewing phase.
6. The Conicent Chair
takes the simple and humble cone shape and transforms it into an impressive and unique piece of furniture. The chair features a cone with the front half chopped off, with an innovative dropped top that seems to be caving in on itself.
Why is it noteworthy?
The chair features a smaller inverted cone inside that serves as the main surface for sitting. Adding a cushion makes it a comfortable indoor chair, though leaving it bare makes it suitable for outdoor use – making it a versatile chair that can be utilized both indoors and outdoors.
What we like
- Made to be comfortable and ergonomic, regardless of your preferred sitting position, thanks to gentle slopes and curves in every direction
What we dislike
- Space-consuming + bulky design
- Not a real tangible product
7. The Orfo Lounge Chair & Sunbed
is a unique, quirky, and eccentric-looking piece of furniture that was designed by Miray Özlem ER. The designer was inspired by Mother Nature and used this influence to design the chair.
Why is it noteworthy?
If you look at the chair closely, it may remind you of a leaf or an exotic-looking plant. The woven pattern of the chair and its dusky green color were characteristics that Miray picked up from nature.
What we like
- You can add multiple Orfo chairs to your yard, creating a super cool and chill spot for your family and close friends to hang about in the summer
What we dislike
- The lack of legs makes it difficult to sit on the chair for longer periods of time
8. The Morph Chair
Designed by Jiung Yun and Minji Kim, the Morph chair was created for ‘quiet contemplation.’ Our daily modern lives can be quite hectic and tiresome. And we need to take a break and simply relax once in a while. The Morph Chair is designed for those moments.
Why is it noteworthy?
was designed for moments of peace when we can take a break, and simply lounge about on it. It attempts to function as a calm space for users to organize their chaotic thoughts and worries and take down their stress a notch or two.
What we like
- Has a storage section integrated beneath the seat, which can be used to store books and other miscellaneous items
What we dislike
- Aesthetics can be dull and stark for some people
9. The Blu Dot Port Dining Chair
is a comfortable and stylish chair with a sculpted wood seat featuring elegant contours. The well-designed piece of furniture maintains a graceful aesthetic, while also managing to be functional and practical.
Why is it noteworthy?
The dining chair features a shapely and cozy bent plywood and back, which provides enhanced comfort during meal times. It has been equipped with a solid wood frame and legs, which is excellent for interacting with guests and spending time with family
What we like
- The plastic glides on the feet prevent the floor surfaces from getting scratched or scraped
What we dislike
- Aesthetics are a bit boring and unassuming
10. The Knitty Chair
Designed by Slovenian designer Nika Zupanc, is a bulky and chonky armchair that takes inspiration from the large mooring ropes for ships.
Why is it noteworthy?
The huge armchair features a chunky basket-weave design that mimics a knotted rope. The chair has been upholstered in a knitted fabric that features a quilted diamond pattern and is available in 15 different colors.
What we like
- A visually interesting armchair that has been layered with depths of personality and character
What we dislike
- The Knitty Chair’s aesthetics aren’t for everyone; they’re quite bold and won’t work for those who prefer a simpler and more minimal style
