In 2015, Omar Gandhi officially became a car guy. “It was an Audi that did it,” he says. While the renowned Canadian architect “grew up admiring the refined simplicity of the brand,” his first experience as an Audi driver sealed the deal. “I bought my first Audi in 2015, and it completely changed my relationship to cars,” says Gandhi. A decade later, the relationship evolves with Audi Haus, a striking architectural showcase for the brand’s evolution at Toronto’s Canadian International Auto Show.

Designed by Gandhi and Omar Gandhi Architects associate Jeff Shaw, Audi Haus is a testament to both innovation and heritage. “We really wanted to bring in the history of the brand. It’s this idea both of looking towards the past and looking to the future,” says Gandhi, likening the elegantly moody space to “a brutalist, subterranean cave — a heavy and hyper monolithic space that pushes the new collection of cars to the forefront.”

While the sleek, minimalist quality of Audi Haus makes for a futuristic backdrop, the design also draws on the brand’s history — including the timelessly iconic Audi rings, a motif translated to the capsule-shaped lighting features that frame the vehicles on display. “The pill shape is derived from the four rings of Audi, and it’s a really simple, subtle way of reflecting that while celebrating these incredible cars,” Gandhi explains.

2025 marks a bold new chapter for the Audi brand, with a collection of new vehicles that exemplifies Audi’s commitment to electrification while paying homage its rich motorsport heritage. From the all-new SQ5 and A5 models to Audi’s industry-leading all-electric e-tron lineup and exclusive sport and performance vehicles like the RS 6 Avant GT and R8 GT, the highly anticipated collection puts Audi in pole position as a leader in sport performance, innovation and electrification.

At Audi Haus, the stunning RS e-tron GT performance greets visitors to an immersive space. Outputting 912 horsepower, the car is the most powerful Audi has ever built. A testament to the revolution in performance, the RS e-tron GT performance combines a thrilling yet decidedly luxurious driving experience with an electric powertrain.

Audi’s motorsport DNA is palpable throughout Gandhi’s tastefully understated space. Case in point? The Q6 e-tron. Powered by Audi’s newly developed Premium Platform Electric, it defines a new era for electric performance SUVs, with a refined interior that creates an enveloping feeling of space, featuring a state-of-the-art cockpit. Meanwhile, the all-new Q5 sets an elevated benchmark for luxury compact SUVs, marked by a thoughtfully redesigned exterior and interior, as well as progressive technology. A timeless yet distinctly contemporary design, the luxuriously understated all-new A5 quietly embodies the essence of Audi’s design philosophy.

As Gandhi puts it, the brand’s ongoing — and industry-leading — evolution remains rooted in a refined design legacy. “What I’ve always admired about Audi is that it’s sophisticated and luxurious, but also deeply tasteful,” says Gandhi. “There’s a quiet elegance to it, and I liked to think of our work at Omar Gandhi Architects in the same way.”
