Keen to capture the vivid, ever-changing landscapes of Vietnam’s cities, seeks out seemingly mundane activities that, when photographed from a unique angle or in the warmth of golden hour, reveal their exceptional nature. Based in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong frequently travels around his home country to spotlight the people and places that comprise daily life, and his Fruit ladies series is one such project.
Comprised of aerial images that peer down at the street below, the collection highlights merchants hauling baskets of fruits, vegetables, flowers, and more to market. Many wear conical sun hats that conceal their faces, their particular postures, clothing, and goods offering the only insights into their identities.
Dong is currently working on additional series that capture similar activities from the same angle, along with a collection of images from the rivers of southern Vietnam. Explore his portfolio on .
