Volume 6 marks a confident evolution for . Where previous collections established the studio’s reputation for modular, component based workstation systems, this latest release expands into ancillary elements that soften hard-working office environments without compromising on purpose or performance.
Creative director Alona Klaro and the team have developed seven pieces that subtly evoke the feeling of a soft embrace – think modular shelves with sculptural curves, a cosy low lounger, and an expressive coat stand rolled from 20mm mild steel tubing. Each new design showcases local manufacturing expertise while addressing the real spatial challenges designers face in contemporary , education, and public interiors.
The COLUMN h/a CLOVER exemplifies this approach. K.I.D’s hero workstation has evolved into circular configurations for three or four users, encouraging egalitarian workflow and effortless collaboration. Add acoustic planters and the same system transforms into focused, private working zones. With bases manufactured in China and tops with planters made in , digital height displays, memory presets, and USB charging are standard across the modular, refurbish-able mild steel components designed for reuse. Further, custom colourways are available for shrouds and completely customised lay outs for tricky floorplates.
gets a playful update with the MAS Planter, developed in collaboration with GEYER Interiors. This dual-colour steel construction acts as green wayfinding or offers privacy when placed at the end of a workstation cluster. Made entirely locally from recyclable mild steel, it includes removable mulch covers and galvanised drip trays that are functional, durable, and refreshingly unpretentious.
Breaking away from sterile corporate aesthetics, the SABI low lounge and COOKIE chair inject warmth and whimsy. Both feature American Oak frames and Joyce foam, these new designs are manufactured in Western Australia with locally sourced internal components. SABI’s low 380mm seating naturally encourages casual interactions and relaxed conversation, while COOKIE’s hugging geometry and joyful visual language, upholstered in Sustainable Living Fabrics’ Chelsea range, makes it impossible not to love.
Moreover, CLOUT – a modular shelf and side table embraces aesthetics first. Stackable, groupable, or wall-hung in scalloped rhythms, these curved steel modules draw inspiration from pronounced knuckles – sculptural forms that meet material optimisation in fully recyclable construction.
Overhead options abound. OM baffle pendants bring noise reduction with decorative appeal. Laser-cut from 12mm acoustic PET panels made from up to 60% recycled fibre, these Mani Wheel-inspired pieces can be assembled without glue, with sheet material carefully optimised to reduce waste.
Rounding out Volume 6, the HUNGER coat stand reimagines Fritz Hansen’s classic Coat Tree with bold expression – a debut by Kasia Wsol. Its inward-facing hooks and top arches accommodating both coats, helmets and hats in powder-coated mild steel fabricated in NSW.
Volume 6 represents K.I.D’s developing design language, where curves and softness are celebrated without diminishing purpose. Materiality drives every decision. Steel dominates for its longevity, refurbishability, and complete recyclability. Timber elements including American Oak inject warmth as precious resources used purposefully, never wastefully. K.I.D is commercial furniture designed for generations, not landfill.
What truly distinguishes Volume 6 is K.I.D’s commitment to seamless project integration and customisation. The studio has now launched a dedicated specifiers library exclusively for designers and architects working on workspace, education, and public space projects. Revit, DWG, and SketchUp models can be downloaded directly; one centralised resource for all 3D modelling needs, making specification faster and more accurate. Easy-to-digest specification sheets detail everything from dimensions to lead times and manufacturing origins, ensuring transparency across the entire supply chain.
