this week we’re headed into what looks to me like a funky pastel pink film set of a film and i’m always okay with that. we’ll be arriving at the very eclectic and exquisitely designed in Biarritz, on france’s beautiful Basque coast (complete with a much-beloved resident !). it was once owned by Spanish aristocrats but luckily for us, new proprietors Anne and Jérôme Israel have completely restored what was once in ruins to its original grandeur (and far beyond!) and have opened this pension de famille to travelers from all over. reservations are made exclusively through their instagram account — how thoroughly modern for such a grand old chateau, built in 1927. we’re going to pack for an entire weekend here, and mix & match our ensembles as one does to pack light — a chic for evening, paired with lowkey , and a creamy that can go from night to day when you add my favorite , and some and that also double as a face mask. whilst doing an awful lot of lounging i recommend reading by Christy Lefteri — the story of Nuri, a beekeeper, and his wife, Afra, an artist. They live a simple life, rich in family and friends, in the beautiful Syrian city of Aleppo. Moving, compassionate, and beautifully written, this book is a testament to the triumph of the human spirit and one that also reminds us of the power of storytelling.
