Is there anything more relaxing than spending time at a wellness clinic to rejuvenate the mind, body and soul? I think not, especially when the destination is Éthos. Located in Brighton, Victoria and designed by Biasol, Éthos is no ordinary spa or traditional salon but more akin to a private sanctuary for those who value their wellbeing and appreciate great design.

Éthos has been conceived as an intimate journey that redefines the experience of trichology. Step through the door of the single fronted building and you arrive in another world where luxurious and elegant surroundings enhance myriad treatments available for a discerning clientele.

“We approached the interior as a sequence of gentle thresholds, each moment crafted to slow the pace, deepen presence and elevate the ritual of care,” says Jean-Pierre Biasol, Founder and Director of Biasol.

The colour palette is informed by the materiality of walnut timber, with light and shadow adding definition to spaces. The aesthetic is warm and moody and sets the scene for relaxation and mindfulness.

Caramel-toned, mineral-washed painted walls add texture and a dark brown coffered ceiling becomes a statement installation that also helps absorb sound. Front and centre is the reception counter of rust, white and brown striated Baccaro stone that has been embedded onto two columns of glass bricks encased by steel. The organic form of the counter is perfect and the disparate materials are rustic yet refined.

“At the heart of the interior, a sculptural centrepiece emerges. Composed of transparent volumes of solid glass bricks, it acts as a gesture of layered honesty – an architectural expression of clarity and trust that mirrors the treatments and products on offer,” says Biasol. “Light refracts through its crystalline surface, animating the space with a gentle luminosity, while brushed Baccaro natural stone grounds the composition, its veining restrained. It becomes a platform to converse, transact, display/demonstrate and connect.”

The waiting area features a softly curved banquette covered with deep russet velvet, pared back coffee table, Wassail chair and Eames turned stool and a striking painting by Phillip Chang takes pride of place on the wall above. A sheer curtain covers the front window façade, and the walnut timber floor recedes into the background. This space encapsulates the Éthos brand and is the epitome of wellness and restoration.

Moving through to the four treatment rooms, the design is heightened by espresso-coloured square tiles on walls surrounding small artisanal basins and mirrors edged in dark walnut. Here, clients can relax and enjoy the specialised hair treatments, consult on hair health and partake of skin treatments and IV infusions.

While the floorplate is concise at 140-square-metres, every positive and negative space has been beautifully curated with texture, lighting and furnishings to exemplify the wellness experience.

As a destination for renewal, Éthos is a leader in its field, but the interior design is next level for inspiring and supporting wellbeing.

As Jean-Pierre Biasol says, “Éthos is an environment shaped not only to restore, but to transform.”

Once again Biasol has created an exciting and deeply resonating space for its clients through expert, intelligent and beautiful design. It’s a place that stands apart from the crowd with a superb interior that reinvigorates the soul.
