William Grant & Sons approached us with a clear vision for their Richmond headquarters, seeking a ground floor fit out that would align seamlessly with their existing high-end workspace across the upper floors. The challenge lay in respecting the legacy and visual identity already established while subtly elevating the ground floor into a refined client-facing environment. This required navigating existing mechanical services and replicating intricate historical features with both precision and sensitivity.

From the outset, it was clear this wasn’t a blank canvas but a continuation of an established story. The upper floors had already set a strong tone of quality and heritage, and our role was to not only match that standard but to enhance it, creating a space with its own distinct purpose. We invested time in understanding the nuances of the existing fit out, examining what made it special and identifying opportunities to gently evolve the space for a more public-facing use. Through detailed site surveys and validations, we mapped out constraints from mechanical systems to original detailing that needed preservation.

This project was as much about interpretation as technical compatibility. Open and regular dialogue with the William Grant & Sons team built trust and clarity around design decisions, enabling us to navigate inevitable constraints while ensuring that the design intent remained consistent. The final design drew inspiration from the craft of spirits themselves, incorporating the copper warmth of stills and the rich, layered tones of ageing whisky barrels into material choices, textures, and joinery details. These elements gave the space a depth and character that felt both authentic and elevated.

We delivered a full CAT B fit out over a 10-week programme, including partitions, flooring, decorations, mechanical and electrical works, and bespoke joinery, all executed with meticulous attention to detail. The result was more than just a polished interior; it created an environment that welcomes clients with the same care and craft found in every William Grant & Sons brand bottle. By anchoring the design in the company’s story, the space became expressive as well as functional, enhancing the way the business presents itself to clients.

The completed ground floor hits exactly the right note, consistent with the wider office environment yet distinctive in its purpose. It is designed specifically to host, welcome, and impress, providing a refined, confident backdrop for every client interaction. Now, when visitors walk through the doors of The Old Court House, they enter a space that reflects the heritage, quality, and international status of the William Grant & Sons brand. It doesn’t just look the part, it feels it, strengthening the impression left on every visitor.
